The foundation series by isaac asimov5/30/2023 The late grand master, who reserved the more dignified abbreviation “s.f.” for literary science fiction, held out hope that one day, “visual science fiction may graduate from sci-fi to s.f.” Whether the epic spectacular described above will qualify as eye-sci-fi or s.f. “Since the show-business people and journalists who talk about image-science-fiction refer to it, abominably, as sci-fi, suppose we call image-science-fiction i-sci-fi or, better yet, eye-sci-fi.” “In the movies and television, science fiction deals primarily with images, so we might call it image-science-fiction,” he wrote in 1979. Integrity dr cloud5/30/2023 It’s about reliability in how you relate to others you can’t be Dr. It’s about a consistency in life - being a person whose moral compass doesn’t shift with the changing of the environment or the pressure of a situation. Integrity is not about having all the skills, competencies, or gifts in the world in order to be “complete.” No one person has that. Notice that one key word is “soundness” while another is “the quality or state of being complete or undivided." When I say complete, I don’t mean complete in the sense of having a complete set of skills or gifts. The second and third definitions bring wholeness to what integrity is.ġ: firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : incorruptibilityģ: the quality or state of being complete or undivided : completeness** If you look at the first definition of integrity, you will see an adherence to a moral code. Let’s look at Webster’s definitions for integrity. All those things are true, but I want to expand on that. Someone who doesn’t steal, tells the truth, and pays their taxes would qualify according to that definition. When most people think about integrity, they normally think about ethics. The problem I run into when I engage others around the topic of integrity involves a limited definition of the word. He says it’s critical because the degree to which you have it will ultimately determine how far your other strengths will take you. Cloud, because it highlights the powerful nature of integrity.

Abandon by meg cabot5/30/2023 The cover art, though appealing for preteen readers who want to progress to adult romance novels, may be a little off-putting to readers who avoid mass-market, formulaic romance novels. My thoughts on the series: The first time I read the summary for these books, I admit I immediately dismissed them as being another cheesy teen romance series. Readers will fall in love with one of the most famous Greek myths, darkly re-imagined, and now more charming and powerful than ever. But even after escaping the underworld, Pierce realizes she will never be able to escape the dark forces that threaten her - or John himself. Pierce is only fifteen when she dies and is swept away by the powerful, mysterious, yet undeniably handsome John Hayden. Series synopsis: The Abandon series is a modern retelling and twist on the Persephone and Hades myth. Will be enjoyed by fans of: Twilight, Beautiful Creatures, The Raven Boys. However Donne’s poetry isn’t defeatist – he was famous in his time for his unusual, intelligent and imaginative work, which used fleas to talk about sex and violence to talk about God. In particular, the tragic death of his younger brother who, aged just nineteen, was thrown into prison for hiding a Jesuit priest and subsequently caught the plague. Born into a grand Catholic family who had suffered persecution under Protestant monarchs, he was intimately acquainted with the cruelty of sixteenth-century England. John Donne led many lives, from a young rake in his early years to archdeacon of St Paul’s in his old age. We visit playhouses, bear-fighting pits and the poet’s marital bed to better understand Donne’s life and work. This week we head back to Renaissance England to immerse ourselves in the world of John Donne, one of Britain’s most ingenious poets.

Eventually, they learn to project themselves on the sunlight, which is the activity called "Sunrunning," to watch events happening at a distance and communicate with other Sunrunners. The first thing young Sunrunners learn to do is what's referred to as "calling fire," which is to light a candle using just their thoughts. Primarily, Sunrunning involves light and fire. Sunrunning is the magic of this fantasy universe, though it can't be used for teleportation or to change the nature of objects or anything like a lot of fantasy magic can. The form that magic takes in the "Dragon Prince" universe is Sunrunning. I'm not sure how many times I've read his book at this point it is probably at least six, maybe even seven. "Dragon Prince" is one of those books that is like an old friend.
